Yankee Stadium Notes: Metallica tickets go on sale and 5K run to be held

Last year during the Jay-Z and Eminem concert

Today tickets went on sale for the "big four" concert at Yankee Stadium in September. The "big four" is considered Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer and Megadeath, all heavy metal bands from the 80's. The prices for this event were almost double the amount they were for the Jay-Z/Eminem concert that they held last year at the stadium around the same time. For the rap concert last year the prices started at $52.50 but this year it will cost $94.50 to get in the door and hear Enter Sandman live.

I wasn't born till the 90's and metal isn't really my style of music so, I will say I have never heard of any of those bands other then Metallica. But close to $100 to get in seems very steep, Metallica has a reputation for being money hungry, and so do the Yankees so that's always a bad combo.

On to some cheaper news that will benefit a good cause, Yankee Stadium will be hosting the Damon Ruyon walk/run for cancer research again this summer. So save the date of August 7th for chance to check out the stadium, and even get a chance to run on the warning track along the field. I have never done it but it seems like a really cool experience. It does cost $40 to register and you must raise $60 to participate, but remember its going to a good cause. Michael LaPayower, winner of the 2010 YES Network fan of the year has set up a team called "BigYankeeFan" and is attempting to raise money to run for the cause, so help him out!

Jay-Z & Eminem awkward interview from back in May

In honor of the Jay-Z/Eminem concert that is being held tonight at Yankee Stadium, while the Yankees are battling the Rays for first, here is an interview that was held on YES during a Yankees vs Tigers game. I had always wondered that Jay's response would be to when asked about " Making the Yankee hat more famous then a Yankee can".

Who would have ever guessed that Michael Kay would be more hood then Ken Singleton ? Or is it that Singleton is just whiter then Kay ? Either way Eminem made that interview very strange and awkward.

The stage is set for Jay-Z and Eminem at Yankee Stadium

While the Yankees are on this tough road trip, the stage is being set for a memorable concert in the Bronx. No literally they are setting up the stage for the concert. This is the first concert to be held at the new Yankee Stadium. B.O.B is set to open for the two rap legends, but the biggest thing I want to know is does Jay-Z open or close with Empire state of mind ?

Here is a clip of Jay and Alicia Keys from last years World Series.

Yankees and Jay-Z team up to make more money !

Yankees, Jay-Z team up on co-branded merchandise - MLB - Yahoo! Sports: "Get your New York Yankees hats here—with a Jay-Z logo.
The hip-hop mogul is teaming up with his favorite baseball squad on co-branded clothes that will be sold exclusively at Yankee Stadium beginning next week. All the items, from baseball caps to T-shirts and hooded sweat shirts, will feature Yankees and Jay-Z logos.
In a news release Thursday, the Yankees said the attire was created to commemorate the first official concerts at the new Yankee Stadium on Sept. 13 and 14, when Jay-Z and Eminem will co-headline.
The shows mark the second half of their “Home and Home” tour, following joint performances at Detroit’s Comerica Park on Sept. 3 and Sept. 4.
The new merchandise will be available at Yankee Stadium from Aug. 30 to Sept. 14."

Should be an interesting concept, I mean on one hand you have the most famous team in sports and on the other you have arguably the most famous rapper of this generation. Either way the Yanks and Jay will be making a nice deal of cash from the clothing. Ill admit I would be interested in checking out the clothing ,since Jay already has his own brand Rocawear and I am always up for more Yankees clothing. But I doubt I will buy any of this over priced merchandise unless it is sold at Modells for a cheaper price then at the stadium or their is a shirt/hat that blows me away. The concert is sold out and still one of the hottest tickets in New York, should be good.
